Ajit Kumar ,a Blind candidate fulfilled his dream for Civil services and crack the IAS examination with a rank of 208 among 791 selected candidates .  He is an inspiration for all the students who are either handicapped or are suffering with some or the other physical fitness.
With the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) offering to absorb him in the Indian Railway Personnel Service, Amar said he filed a case against the alleged discrimination. CAT ruled in his favour in October 2010 directing DoPT to induct him into the IAS.


According to Ajit’s brother, Amar, it was Ajit’s strong determination that helped him achieve his aim. Ajit’s father , Rampath is a retired block development and panchayat officer while mother, who never went to school, is a housewife, said Amar. They are a total of five brothers and one sister, he added.
